Every student has an opportunity to participate in our travel seminars.
India: December 28, 2018 – January 12, 2019
Theme: Lands of Faith and History
The itinerary will include visits to Delhi, Amritsar (to see the Golden Temple, the most sacred site for Sikhs), Agra (the Taj Mahal!), Hyderabad to learn about the situation of Dalit (untouchable) Christians, and Bangalore to stay in residence at our sister seminary, United Theological College. We will hear lectures from prominent theologians and pastors and spend time at Visthar, a social advocacy organization in Bangalore.
This is an amazing opportunity for those who want to learn about Christianity in India and experience the wonders of this amazing country and culture. And it’s a perfect time of year to go. The weather will be mild and pleasant.
Ghana: April 23, 2019 – May 10, 2019
Travel Seminar Professors: James Taneti and Frances Taylor Gench
Are you interested in traveling to Ghana during May Term 2019 as part of the UPSem Travel Seminar?
The trip will provide an opportunity to learn from the people, churches, and culture of Ghana, and to gain experience of the mission of theological education in an African context. Students from all platforms (Richmond, Charlotte, ECP) are invited to consider participation.
We anticipate departing from Washington, DC on April 23 and returning to DC on May 10. Costs are generally low for this trip, as we stay in dorms, denominational conference centers, and homes, and our hosts provide most meals. Costs are unlikely to exceed $1000. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Drs. James Taneti (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Frances Taylor Gench (email@example.com).
Union Presbyterian Seminary has three exchange programs — with the Institut de Theologie in Montpellier, France; the Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary in Seoul, Korea; and the Universitat Bern in Bern, Switzerland.
